乔治·奥威尔作为20世纪著名的英国讽刺小说家,根据其在社会底层的生活经历,以敏锐的洞察力和犀利的文笔记录了极权主义统治下的社会,在其作品《1984》中细致地描写了一个人民群众备受迫害的极权统治社会。皮尔斯,作为现代符号学的创始人之一,以其独特的符号理念和符号分类理论对俄罗斯、美国、中国等国家的符号学发展产生了重要的影响。本文依据皮尔斯符号学理论,从符号的定义、符号与意义的关系出发,解析《1984》中极权主义表现形式的符号特点、极权主义统治下社会的运行机制以及人们的生活状态。
Abstract：Based on his life experiences in the bottom society,his acute perception and sharp writing style,George Orwell,one of the most famous satirists in Britain,recorded the society under the reign of totalitarianism.In Nineteen Eighty-Four,he dedicatedly describes a totalitarianist society where people are badly persecuted.Peirce,as one of the two founders of contemporary semiotics,has made great influences on the development of semiotics in Russia,America and China by his unique semiotic philosophy and classification theory.This paper analyzes the semiotic features of totalitarianism depicted in Nineteen Eighty-Four,and the social mechanism and people's life under the reign of totalitarianism from the perspective of Peircean semiotics.
