俄罗斯学者普洛普在童话故事中发现了不变的"功能"项,格雷马斯将"功能"项(即行动元)结构化,形成了行动元模型,即符号矩阵。在长篇叙事文本(如长篇小说)中,宏观的符号矩阵不能解释各章节局部情节冲突的意义生成过程,所以局部情节的意义生成有赖于下级符号矩阵的建立,由此构成符号矩阵的层级结构。符号矩阵层级结构中的行动元遵循三条规律:一,部分行动元被继承,其余行动元被置换;二,符号矩阵左右两列的行动元不能交换位置,体现了作者价值判断的连贯性;三,符号矩阵上下两排的行动元可以交换位置,体现作者在处理局部故事情节时注意焦点的转换。相同位置的行动元,可能不属于同一语义范畴,但只要它们在符号矩阵的四个行动元组成的系统中具有同样的功能,语义特征上的差异可以忽略。
Abstract：Russian scholar Propp discovered Functions in his research into fairytales;Greimas structuralized Functions (namely actants) into a model,that is,symbolic matrix.In long narratives (like novels),macro symbolic matrix fails to account for local plot conflicts;therefore,subordinate symbolic matrixes have to be constructed,posing a hierarchical structure of symbolic matrix.Actants in the hierarchy observe three laws :1.Some actants are inherited while others are substituted;2.Actants on the left column and on the right column cannot be exchanged,thus reflecting the author's consistency in value judgment;3.Actants in the top row and in the bottom row can be exchanged as a result of the author's shift of attention focus.Actants at the same location across symbolic matrixes may not belong to the same semantic category,but so long as they share the status in the system of the 4 actants,semantic divergences can be ignored.
